Getting
there
Couldn't
actually be much easier! Flights to Malta (Luqa) are available from Ryan
Air
out of Luton., Easyjet fly from Manchester and Gatwick and British Airways fly direct from
Gatwick all year, and there are
also flights available via Air
Malta. from Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Stansted and Heathrow which are now great prices!.
Low season prices start from as little at £40 including
taxes,
return, but obviously are more expensive over the summer. Or there's
the
charter option. Check out Thompson and First
ChoiceFrom Germany, German Wings fly from Stuttgart and Cologne, Air Berlin fly with connections via Nurnburg in winter, and operate low cost flights. Air Malta fly direct from Frankfurt. and Munich, and Dusseldorf & Hamburg on Sundays. Ryan Air now fly from both Bremen and Stockholm as well as Valencia in Spain. |

Then what?
Again,
easy! By far the easiest is to pick up your hire car at the
airport
(they drive on the left!). It's a 20 minute drive to the ferry and is
very clearly signposted (we will send you maps as well and help you
book your car if required). The ferries run frequently, even overnight
and are very cheap (about £7 for a car and 2 passengers) and
there's no need to book in advance. Once you arrive in Mgarr it's a 10
minute drive to the apartment. Alternatively, you can get a cab from
the airport (about £15) and another on Gozo (we can prebook
this
for you!). We can even arrange for your hire car to be delivered
to the
apartment! There's a new direct bus shuttle operating from Luqa airport
straight to the Ferry terminal, and details can be found here. We suggest you try Auto Europe for a car hire quote (link opens in a
new window). Their rates seem to be the best, and we use them when we
visit!

Don't want to drive?
A
hire car is really the best way to explore the island, and the Gozitians are good
drivers. There's not much traffic on the island and
only one set of traffic lights! You can't really get lost, if in doubt,
head towards the Citadel
of Victoria which can be seen from most of the
island! However, there is also a good bus service
and a stop just across the road from the apartment., even if the buses
do look like they were used in the making of St Trinian's!
